WebEvent Technical Requirements
WebEvent requires a UNIX or Windows Web server capable
of running Perl CGI applications and a MySQL or SQL Server database. When
the installation is completed, users can access the calendars through a Web
browser.
| To install WebEvent
on your server, you will need: |
Web server capable of running Perl CGI scripts: Supported servers are as follows. Other Web servers may work but have not been tested.
Windows NT/2000 (IIS)
UNIX (Apache)

| Telnet or console access to Web server |
| 512 megabytes of RAM on Web server |
| 2Ghz Pentium 4 or faster processor on Web server |
| When configured with more than 5,000 calendars
and/or users, it is recommended that the database run on a separate machine
from the Web server |
Disk space:
2 megabytes for WebEvent installation
20 to 200 megabytes for 1,000-10,000 calendars and/or users and an
average number of events

Perl 5.6.1 or later
Windows servers require ActivePerl with Windows NT/2000 extensions
|
Database to store calendar data:
MySQL 4.0 or later
SQL Server 2000 or later
|
Components for connecting to chosen database:
For MySQL: DBI (version 1.37 or later), DBD::MySQL (version 2.9002
or later)
For SQL Server: DBI (version 1.37 or later), DBD::ODBC (version 1.05
or later), Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC 2.6 SP2 or later)

Access to a scheduling service to handle email
reminders, subscriptions, and change notifications:
Task Scheduler (or the "AT" command) on a Windows server
crontab on a UNIX server |
